“Imagine Nigeria” was conceived as part of multi-stakeholder efforts to create a desirable future for Nigeria beyond its current realities. It is an independent exercise, led by a High-Level Panel and funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Nigeria.
Creating the Imagine Nigeria Report
The journey that birthed Imagine Nigeria began in September 2020 with the formation of a High Level Panel. In the same month, an international advisory team plus a national secretariat were created to manage the day-to-day activities leading up to this report. October 2020 saw the creation of an action plan and a concept note to initiate the exercise.
A series of expert workshops, focus group meetings, expert and stakeholder interviews, scenarios workshops and research were undertaken between October 2020 until February 2021. Also, a team of experts prepared policy briefs as background materials. The report was reviewed and approved in July 2021 for publication.
Over 300 people, from all regions of Nigeria and from abroad, participated in all phases of the exercise – consultations, research, analysis, building future scenarios, as well as drafting and reviewing the final report.
